Someday the mountain might get ’em, but the law never will

Know what the best part of Friday night was when you were a kid?  This:

Know what the best part of whenever-the-heck-I-want-it-to-be is?  This:

Because I don’t have to wait for Friday night any more.  I can use our roku box and stream, via Amazon Prime, vintage “Dukes of Hazzard” episodes any time I want for like 2 bucks (actually $1.99, but what’s $.01 between friends?).

I decided a few months ago that my spawn needed to be exposed to the awesome that is the “Dukes of Hazzard.”  After all, their father’s Facebook profile picture for the past 6 years has been–without fail, change, or alteration–this:

And the background screen on my iphone has been this since the “Dukes of Hazzard” reunion last year (a.k.a. the Greatest Moment of My Life Spent in Middle Georgia):

And now?  Any time the 5-year-old wants a guaranteed method of delaying bedtime another 45 minutes, all he has to do is make a simple request:  “Wanna watch ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’?”  Yes, son, I do.  Because turning on “The Dukes” is like jumping 33 years backward to when I was your age, and it’s a good place to be.

I can’t wait ’til they’re ready for the more advanced plots lines of “Knight Rider.”
