Know what kind of email you don’t ignore? One that says “You’re Invited: New LEGO Star Wars Component at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta.” I RSVP’d for 5, checked the weather, and determined that Sunday the 22nd would be a great day to take 3 children to Atlanta’s indoor Legoland and see Star Wars characters. So, that was yesterday’s rainy day activity. I wasn’t asked to write a post about the trip, but I am anyway, because it was cool.
The “Star Wars” section consisted of 3 elaborate scenes from “The Phantom Menace.”
See that? Clone wars! Out of Legos!
And then there was the pod racing scene (click here for the Vine of it):
And here’s Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan crossing lightsabers with Darth Maul:
As Anakin Skywalker’s flight away (on Vine here):
After seeing the Lego scenes, we rode one of the rides, and my daughters were encouraged to Lean In, as they met the first storm trooper to break the gender glass ceiling in Darth Vader’s service!
Then, we watched not 1, but 2 of the 4-D movies they showed (“4-D” meaning you get hit with rain, wind, and snow in the theater). The children were already familiar with the Lego character “Clutch Powers” from their Netflix streaming account, and they enjoyed seeing him in 4D yesterday. The other film we saw was called “Spellbreaker,” and you can get a clip of it here.
All in all, a great way to spend a rainy afternoon in Atlanta, and a great follow up to my trip to Lucasfilm at the Dad 2 Summit a few weeks prior!
Livin’ la vida Lego, y’all!!
