More than a decade ago, when I started blogging and knew lots of folks who blogged, we’d conclude the year with some of our favorite posts and highlights from the year. But 2020 was different. It was also the first time I’ve used the “one second every day” app for an entire year.
Trying to capture an interesting second from a year like the one we just endured was, as one can imagine, difficult. During the 3 months I did this exercise in 2019, I captured moments from travel, concerts, parties, or other group activities. This year, we had 32 flights cancelled and I’m not even sure how many concert tickets refunded. Weddings, funerals, birthday parties, and ceremonies were scrapped, postponed, or adjusted. But you know what? We stayed healthy and maintained a “can do” attitude during most of the year, and I’m proud of how it turned out. Trying to find a second of joy or amusement every day was often what kept me looking for a silver lining in clouds of grey.
And so, here’s my 2020, in 366 (it was leap year, remember?) one second(ish) increments:
Lemonade, sweet sweet lemonade.
